As part of our learning all about Antarctica, we have been playing with penguins, making penguins out of soft clay and creating paper penguins with googly eyes. We have also learnt lots about the South Pole.

They are trying to get to the North Pole to visit the polar bears but got lost on the way!

 In Pip's letter addressed to the nursery children, they asked the children to help look after them for the time being. The children will need to find out what Pip likes to eat, where they like to sleep and the things they like to do to have fun. 

The children also did a little waddle dance to welcome Pip and make them feel at home.

We have enjoyed playing with small world animals and we have learnt that polar bears live at the Arctic and Penguins live at Antarctica and they never meet each other. We have painted polar bear faces on the creative table and created maps of the Arctic. We are such super stars at our learning.

We enjoyed watching what happened as the ice melted and all the colours from the paints ran together. Children described it as looking like a rainbow and knew that the ice was melting. Laura Murphy, our school speech and language therapist, gave a presentation around how to help support your child at home with their speech and language with some great tips around getting down to their level, extending sentences, singing nursery rhymes and playing phonics games. Our raffle winners were Caleb and Atlas, who chose a prize from the box, and Arvin and Leila, who won a £10 book voucher. Next week's workshop is about play. We hope to see you there!

First the adults discussed any issues they were having around eating with their children at home. Then the children came into the hall and tried lots of different fruit, vegetables, dips, banana milkshake and smoothie. Our raffle winners were Jabal and Noorseen who won book tokens and Kenan and Ravyn who got to choose a prize out of the prize box. Thank you so much to all the parents who came to the workshop. Next week's workshop is It's Good to Talk and we will have a talk from Laura Murphy who is our school speech and language therapist. We can't wait to see you all again!

So we decided to make some ice to explore in nursery. We put some small dinosaurs inside and left the children to explore what had happened and what was going to happen. We had lots of good discussions. Children estimated how many dinosaurs were trapped in the ice (they thought 10). They said things like "It might melt." "It's melted". "The sun would be great at melting it". "It's cold, so icy". "When it's melted we can catch the dinosaurs". "The waters coming from the ice". "It came from the freezer". What fantastic investigating!

He made a bit of a mess in nursery with his snowy footprints, but the teachers didn't mind! What a fun time we had!

We went on lots of rides, including a train ride and tractor ride. They were super fun! We looked around Story Book Village at all the fairy-tale houses that we have been reading about in nursery. We even shouted some of the phrases from the story, such as "I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down". We went on a magical sleigh ride and met Santa! He said we were all on the good list, so we all received a present. What lucky children we are! Despite the weather being very cold we all had a wonderful time! The nursery teachers would like to thank the children for how well behaved they were, they followed all our golden rules and were a delight to be with!

We have used lovely Autumn colours and taken care to use our fingers to make the leaves on the trees.
