Week ending 18th October

It has been another great week with your children.

We have had another superb week and we are flying through our learning!

Spellings:

Since we have split into our two different groups, the children have adjusted brilliantly to coming straight into the session and maximising learning time. We are really impressed with the effort the children are putting into learning their list of spellings each week, as well as the rising scores.

Gymnastics:

We have been perfecting the use of our four rolls: straight roll, barrel roll, straddle roll and a forward roll. So many children can now do a forward roll and the accuracy of the straddle rolls have increased – as well as the confidence of the children performing them. This week, we combined the rolls with different ranges of travel, as well as solid starting and finishing positions. Each class worked together to support their classmates after certain people performed to the class.

Writing:

We have started a new unit of writing this week, based around two popular texts: The Iron Man and The Wild Robot. We have been perfecting our sentences and using conjunctions to form compound and complex sentences. The other main focus is for us to ensure we are checking and editing our writing before finishing the lesson, to ensure we are as accurate as possible.

Y4GH:

Star of the Week is for Kareem. He has worked so hard this week at keeping his focus and applying himself to his handwriting skills.

The Learning Principle postcard is for Charlie with the Be Curious card. He was extremely inquisitive in our last history lesson, trying to decipher information about the Anglo-Saxon found buried at Sutton Hoo.

PE Star of the Week: This week, the PE star of the week is from Y4GH and is for Louie. He demonstrated an excellent sequence in our gymnastics lesson, including to very precise and slick forward rolls.

Y4MB

Star of the Week is for Naom for just getting on, working hard and smiling lots!

The Learning Principle postcard was given to both Darcie and Robyn. They have both felt a little under the weather this week but they managed to get through this and produce work by Learning Together.
