26th June

It was hot!

What a hot and spicy week! We made it through, despite the heat!

Science

Wow! This week, we had a special guest come and see us as a part of our science learning! Sophie, a fully-qualified dentist, came in to see us and talk about her job and how we can look after our teeth! She even gave us a mini-sample of toothpaste. Did you know that the brand of toothpaste you use, and the colours in it and gimmicks like that are irrelevant? As long as it contains fluoride, that is all you need! NEVER rinse your mouth after brushing and try to wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything to give the toothpaste time to work properly. Also, plaque is the ‘poo’ of the bacteria that lives in our mouths! Ask your child to tell you anything else they can!

Writing

Based on the book ‘Lift’, the children have been writing about a problem for Iris – either being lost in space or encountering a shark. Their paragraphs were excellent and they effectively used their editing time to improve them even further.

Maths

We have started a new maths topic this week – statistics! The children have spent a lot of time looking at different charts and graphs, including pictogram and gathering data from them. We have learnt about the two axis on a graph, filling in missing numbers on a scale and about how to find the difference or how many more between two data sets.

Y4GH

This week’s postcard is for Rakaan. I have written him a ‘Be Positive’ postcard as he literally could have any postcard on any week. He is the perfect ‘always’ child and representative for Watercliffe Meadow.

Y4MB

Our postcard of the week is for Joey. He had a positive week. Even when things could have gone wrong, he kept a positive attitude and, as a consequence, it didn’t.
