23.05.25 Y4 Learning

We cannot believe that it has been the last week of the half term already. Our learning is exceptional and we really such an amazing bunch – they are a delight to teach!

Computing:

This week, we used Dino Simple Quiz on Scratch to solve maths problems, ordering, modifying and debugging the given algorithms. As well as using a wide range of coding blocks on Scratch, we also gained further skills with what selection is and how it works.

Art:

In our art lessons, we are doing the Exploring Still Life unit. So far we have looked at a range of artists, including Paul Cezanne and Hilary Pecis in detail. The children have created some fantastic visual notes and given their opinions on the artists’ work.

World Numeracy Day:

On Wednesday 21st May, the children had an exciting session of maths. They signed up to a session (a bit like Golden Time!) and had fun doing different types of maths. We had potion making (measure), MUGA maths (four rules), treasure maps (coordinates), maths jokes (problem solving), maths mazes and many many more! It was a delight to see all this maths in action and the children having an amazing time!

Y4GH:

Star of the Week is for Ellasu. She showed great confidence and skill at our swimming sessions this week. She could jump into the pool and then swim lengths on her front and back.

Summer is the recipient of our postcard this week. She is really smashing swimming. Us adults, and all of the children, are unbelievably proud of how far she has come with her lessons. This week, she had some of her armbands taken off, learnt to get in the pool by herself and swam length after length. Summer – you make me so smiley! It has been a privilege to be there and see you.

PE Star of the Week: Our Y4 PE Star of the Week is Ali. This is another swimming themed reward. Ali has shown nothing but exceptional enthusiasm since his first lesson. He is slowly developing his technique and can swim lengths!

Y4MB

The Learning Principle (Careful Choices) postcard was awarded to Thanos. For the second week in a row he has produced some excellent writing and done what was asked.

Star of the Week is Romario. He has had such a positive week and has been really calm for him. He has been trying his absolute best.

CLIC:

Y4GH: We had 6 children absent today! But those of us who were here did an excellent job with our tests. 14 children got 12/12, and Levia did this for the first time this half term. Well done to her and Kenan, Orlando, Reon, Layla, Jessica, Mia, Ashton, Sonny, Narin, Louie, Finn, Esmae and Archie. Charlie and Kurt were super close with 11/12.

Y4MB: 8 children reached the magical full marks with their hard work today. Amina, Bayan, Aklil, Corey, Kamari, Charlie, Maisie and Darcie got 12/12. Robyn and Ivy were super close with 11/12. Oba matched his previous high score too!

Beat That:

Y4GH: Kenan is smashing his Beat That score out of the park at the moment and scored 51 again! Archie also scored an incredible 45 – they both moved on to the second test. Alyssiah matched her previous high score and Ali, Summer, Kurt, Reon, Layla, Ashton, Sonny and Finn all got their highest score this half term. Fantastic job to all of you.

Y4MB: The flying high continues in Mr B’s class too! Aklil is now in the lofty number of 101, and Charlie scored 42 and Darcie got 46. This is incredible! Bayan, Olly, Brogan, Ethan C, Antoni, Fasiha and Hannah all matched or beat their previous scores from the half term. Brilliant work!

Spellings:

Y4GH: There were 8 full marks in spelling this week: Orlando, Reon, Layla, Sonny, Louie, Finn, Archie and Mia. This is really reflective of the hard work that is being put in at home. Narin, Kenan, Kurt and Jessica were close with 9/10. Esmae also matched her highest score.

Y4MB: There were 8 full marks in Mr B’s class too! Well done to Aklil Amina, Bayan, Darcie, Ivy, Muadh, Naom and Robyn. Charlie, Corey and Kamari were close with 9/10. Brogan matched her previous highest score.

Reading:

As we hit the end of this half term, so many children are on a positive reading journey. In Y4GH, 9 children have already met and exceeded the 40 read expectation: Charlie, Summer, Harrison, Jessica, Narin, Finn, Olivia and Archie. In Y4MB, Amina, Maisie, Darcie, Muadh and Ivy have already smashed their target. Keep it up Y4!
