The week we found our way around an OS Map (16th May)
Another brilliant week of learning.

Computing:
Computing has become very exciting. We are constantly consolidating our understanding of algorithms, repetition (count-controlled and infinite) and we’re now learning about selection. This involves ‘if… then.. else and else if…’ commands. We are applying this to programming in Scratch.
Geography:
We loved our geography lesson this week! Our WALT was to understand OS map symbols, so we got to spend time examining the OS map of Sheffield and Barnsley. We used grid references to locate Shirecliffe (35 90) and identified physical and human features in the area. One of our questions for consolidation was about what someone would do in Shirecliffe, to see if children could link this to the features there; such as shopping at Tesco or filling their car with petrol.

Star of the Week is for Reon. He is so positive and happy in the classroom and a joy to be around. He also works really hard.
Receiving their ‘Make Links’ postcard this week, is Ashton. In our Q4Cs for geography, Ashton was able to list many reasons why someone would visit Shirecliffe.
PE Star of the Week: Our Y4 PE Star of the Week is for Maisie. Ben from EVO said, “She works hard; plays well in a team; listens to all instructions and supports others.”

The Learning Principle (Careful Choices) postcard was awarded to Antoni. He has produced some excellent writing. He has listened and then done what is needed.
Star of the Week is Bayan. She gets on, works hard and produces good quality work.
