23.10.26 Y6 Weekly Learning
Your children have worked so hard this half-term; we are very proud of them! Use the holidays to recuperate but also keep their finger on the learning pulse!
Maths
We started our first fractions block this week – and we have already covered some complicated concepts, such as simplifying fractions, placing equivalent fractions on a number line and exploring fractions with different denominators. Despite the difficulty of some of the questions, the children have persevered with the challenge and realised how important it is to know their times tables in order to access the learning!
Science - Light
We finished our light block this week too. The children are now well-versed in the fact that light travels in straight lines, reflects off surfaces into our eyes and many other concepts. We have had a very hands-on unit, and have sunk our teeth into planned investigations, fun observations and carousels of activities. Next half term we move on to electricity!
Y6GH
This week, we are giving out a ‘Make Links’ postcard to Reon. He has made some excellent links between his knowledge of simplifying fractions to placing equivalent fractions on a number line. Neither of these are easy concepts, so well done! Our Star of the Week for the first week back after half term is Summer! She is such a joy to have in our class and unbelievably positive all the time!
Y6KH
Our postcard this week goes to Maisie. She approaches everything with equal ‘pupil professionalism’ and by that I mean it doesn’t matter what piece of learning or what subject we are studying she gives everything a fair chance. She likes to do well and sets herself high standards. Our Star of the Week for the first week back after half term is Naom. He is a lovely member of our class and always tries to give considered, detailed answers.
Y6 PE Star of the Week
This week’s PE Star is from Y6KH – it goes to Viren for being a team player and a positive role model to others.
