First Week Back

Here is our blog update for the week beginning 31st August 2026 - and our first three days of school!

Wow! It’s only been three days the children have been back but they have been exceptional! We are already blown away at how hard they have been working and they have definitely hit the ground running. We are looking forward to our year together so much!

Outdoor PE

As class teachers, we had the delight of being a part of the weekly EVO sessions this week. We’d normally be busy planning so this was brilliant to see! The children worked well as individuals, pairs and then teams using rugby tags and a variety of rules. Counting in 6s was the key to point scoring and each coloured team gave the others a run for their money!

Y6GH

The first person to get the postcard for this year is Charlie. He has entered Y6 with the most amazing attitude, striving for his best in all lessons and having a great positive attitude and following all of our golden rules. Our Star of the Week for next week is Narin. She is such a positive and polite girl and works hard, with a smile!

Y6 PE Star of the Week

Our first PE Star is from Y6GH. It was awarded to Kenan for excellent sportsmanship. He paired up, with a great attitude, to someone without a partner. We then saw him holding his hand out to help up someone who took a trip to the floor. This is exactly what this award is for Kenan, well done!

Y6KH

The first person to get the postcard for this year is Aklil. She has made an impressive start in Y6. Her attitude and approach to learning has meant she has produced work of both good quality and quantity. She also was the first to get herself onto the Times Table Rocket from our class. Her ambition to become an assembly monitor pushed her to write a letter of application and we’re pleased to say that she was successful! Our Star of the Week for next week is Holly. A great start to Y6. She has particularly shown her caring and supportive side outside with younger children.

CLIC

Y6GH: Three children came back with a bang and got full marks, when completing the Y5 test. Well done Veda, Bobby and Narin. Harrison, Jessica and Sonny were close behind with 11 out of 12. A great effort by all!

Y6KH: There were two amazing full scores – Charlie and Darcie – great start! Aklil, Kamari, Maisie, Robyn and Ivy were all right there with 11/12. It was a brilliant first week back for everyone.

Beat That

Y6GH: Veda exceeded the 72 target by flipping over to the other side and scoring 84 – wow! Archie and Bobby strived for the target by scoring 71 and 67. Everyone worked really hard!

Y6KH: Aklil continued her streak from last year and smashed through the top mark, scoring 98! Charlie got a double-full mark by scoring 72/72. Corey was the next best with 70 but it was a top job all round!

Spelling

We would normally report on spellings, but as this was the first week there were none to learn. Your child does have their spelling list stuck in their journals ready to begin learning for next week’s test. We begin spelling groups on Monday morning.
