What a week!
Our half-term holiday seems like a distant memory and the children have already fit so much learning in! Next week is our assessment week – the Y4 national multiplication check is finally here, a reading test and the end of year arithmetic and reasoning tests. Such an amazing opportunity to show us how much they know!
Science
Our new science unit is ‘Animals, including humans’. Our first component was what digestion is and learning about the digestive system. We had really good fun learning about the process and using the body part aprons to demonstrate. Afterwards, we had some really good knowledge and were able to use our new scientific vocabulary, such as oesophagus. We also got to giggle every time an adult said poo!
Writing
We have been creating narratives with description of characters and setting. The children have used the book ‘Lift’ to describe settings and also detail a character’s feelings by their actions; such as: the stood frozen in fear.
Y4GH
This week’s postcard was based on a particular moment of the week. We were learning about triangles and classifying shapes. After talking about their properties (angles, parallel sides, number of sides) we were asking how we could classify the given shapes. Malik linked this to our science lessons and said “observable characteristics”! Perfect link making right there!
Y4 PE Star of the Week:
Our PE star of the week is from Y4GH. The star is for Tiwa, she really gave it her all in swimming when attempting to swim a length with no flotation devices; for the very first time!
Y4MB
Our postcard(s) of the week are for Maryam and Shatw. They always make Careful Choices. In every lesson. In every social situation. Thank you girls for being you!
