And then SATs was over.
Another amazing week and they have been amazingly busy – and so respectful to the year 6s doing their SATs tests!
Geography
We have continued to learn about the local area through OS maps and using the key to identify human and physical features. We also created a sketch map of part of the area by school. Some of us created our own keys and we all began to label important parts, such as the road names and Busk Meadow park. Additionally, we revisited four-figure grid references and how this could help us narrow down what we know about a place.
Writing
Over the past two weeks, each child has written detailed paragraphs about a range of animal classifications, including mammals, reptiles, arachnids, crustaceans and insects. They have experimented with including fronted adverbials, noun phrases, synonyms to avoid repetition as well as focussing on accurate sentence structure.
Clean Air
On Thursday afternoon, we had the pleasure of having a session with George, a lady from an outside agency that links to our School Streets, Travel Tracker and walking to school. The session was all about gas pollutants and how these impact on the air we breathe. We finished with a fun quiz! She is coming in again later in the term to follow up with this.
Y4GH
Our postcard this week is going to both Aahil and Leela. They ‘Learn Together’ well. Their paired discussions are focussed and helpful; and they also work to improve their writing when doing shared editing.
Y4MB
Our postcard of the week is for Billy and Ida. They both work well with others and have created their best writing so far because of this.
Y4 PE Star of the Week:
Our PE star of the week is from Y4MB. Ava C: She worked hard, listened well and improved during our swimming session.
