8th May
A short and hectic week
You would never know that we had a Bank Holiday day off as we have squeezed in so much learning in the remaining 4 days!
Science
Through writing and science, the children have been learning more about the individual groups within vertebrates and invertebrates. We have written in detail about insects, crustaceans and arachnids and have so many facts at our finger tips. We’ve even done an artistic impression of animals from different classifications. The children have some excellent knowledge and a wealth of technical vocabulary.
Maths
This week is the beginning of our time unit. Another potentially tricky one where some of us naturally able and some of us are not and we are having to work really hard! Any extra learning that can be done at home on reading analogue clocks and converting them to digital time would be really, really helpful!
Art
Last week, the children started a new unit of art. The focus is Still Life. They began with a detailed look at Paul Cezanne, French Post-Impressionist a painter of still life. They chose some of his paintings to critique and wrote about him in their sketch books. This week, they are taking a look at still life and how we can sketch to do this.
