1st May

A great end to a very warm week

We are in the month of May, the sun is shining and we have had an awesome week – what could be better than to be rewarded with a Bank Holiday weekend?

Science

Science was super exciting this week! After talking about animals and flowers and how they are categorised, we started to learn about classifying and what it was. Once we learnt that it was grouping things by their characteristics, we applied it to a bag of Rowntree’s Pick n Mix sweets! The temptation to munch them was almost too much but we did an excellent job of classifying them by colour, shape and type. We then moved onto classifying animals from the picture book ‘Lots of Dots’.

Maths

It’s been all about the money, money, money this last two weeks. We have looked at calculating amounts, comparing and ordering money, converting between pounds and pence and then applying this to word problems. The children are all ready to go shopping and apply their skills!

Religious Education

In our RE lessons, we have been learning about what Hindus think god is like and discussing Brahman. One of the most interesting things we have found is that Hindus don’t believe in having an image for Brahman but instead there are deities that represent part of him instead, such as Shiva the Destroyer. We linked it to ourselves and how we have different parts of ourselves that make up who we are: a son/ daughter, a supporter of a team, a good friend etc. It is really intriguing!

Y4GH

Our postcard this week is going to Riley. He has made so much progress over the year, particularly with reading, and his careful choices have seen improvement in his writing and maths too. Way to go, Riley!

Y4MB

Our postcard of the week is for Darcey. She has done a lot of reflecting and sharing. This has really helped everyone in class. Well done.
