We have had a spectacular first week back into the summer term – and the weather seems to be improving! Fingers crossed.

 

Geography

We have started a new geography unit this term and we are really excited (one of Mrs Heaver’s favourite subject is geography!) We are doing a lot of map skills, learning about OS symbols and we even had the compasses out! Over the term, the children will be studying the local area and comparing Shirecliffe to Mayfield Valley.

 

Writing

Our first topic is biographies! We have been looking at the features of biographies and identified these in different examples. We even learnt how dangerous Mr B’s early childhood was in the process!

 

Guided Reading

Our new book is the Legend of Podkin One Ear, by Kieran Larwood. The children have made some excellent predictions about the book already – we are so excited to find out what happens!

This week’s postcard goes to Jack. Even though it has been over two weeks since we went to Thornbridge, we still can’t forget at how excellent he was at solving problems and leading his team in such a guiding way. Well done Jack!
